Job summary

Pike Electric, Inc. is seeking a safety-minded Foreman to lead a crew constructing and repairing underground electrical distribution systems. You will work on energized and de-energized lines, travel to job sites (including out-of-state), and report to the General Foreman.

Minimum five years’ underground line experience and a valid CDL are required. You’ll conduct safety briefings, supervise work quality, and coordinate outages and overtime to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of recent underground line experience.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while putting safety first.
• Lead crew members and conduct pre-job and tailgate safety briefings.
• Coach and train lower classification employees in safe and productive procedures.
• Oversee work related to each project and assume full responsibility for its quality and completion deadline.
• Install and repair underground facilities and conductors, including fault locating on primary and secondary systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of switching and tagging procedures, grounding and induced voltage on energized and de-energized lines.
• Understand how and when to obtain a one shot on a reclosing device.
• Work in confined spaces, and in proximity to energized equipment.
• Operate and maintain excavation equipment including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and be available for outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Perform live line work using PPE and insulated sticks for testing voltage and switching.
