Job summary

Canyon Fuel Company in Canyon Fuel Company – Fossil Rock Mine seeks a Production Supervisor to lead an underground continuous miner section, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive coal production on the assigned shift. Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of underground coal mining experience.
• Current Utah Underground Foreman Papers (MSHA Foreman Certification required).
• Demonstrated knowledge of continuous miner mining methods and section operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to supervise and motivate crews in an underground mining environment.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate production activities on the assigned continuous miner section.
• Monitor section performance and adjust operations to maximize productivity.
• Ensure proper utilization of personnel, equipment, and supplies.
• Coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
• Monitor mining conditions and make operational decisions to maintain safety and efficiency.
• Supervise and support section personnel during assigned shifts.
• Assign work, establish expectations, and monitor performance.
• Coach and develop employees to improve performance and skills.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication.
• Ensure adequate staffing and coverage to meet operational needs.
• Communicate production goals and shift performance to management.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, safety, and operations teams.
• Complete production reports and document issues requiring follow-up.
• Provide thorough shift turnover reports for continuity between crews.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and operating practices.
• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate corrective actions.
