Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) invites undergraduates in engineering, physics, and computer science to join the National Security Engineering Division (NSED) for a hands-on summer internship in 2027.

You will work directly with engineers, scientists, and mentors on research topics spanning electrical, mechanical, computational, and nuclear engineering, contributing to national security projects.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a college/university student pursuing an associates or bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science or a related field.
• A sustained record of outstanding academic performance.
• Ability to work full time for ten to twelve weeks during your internship.
• Communication skills to present research results and technical talks.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical and/or research assignments in electrical, mechanical, computational, nuclear, or related engineering fields.
• Participate in research in assigned area under supervision.
• Gather and analyze data in support of scientific research.
• Utilize standard software packages common in your discipline for routine tasks.
• Attend seminars and facility tours.
• Present and communicate results to the research group.
