Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to join our imaging team. You will obtain quality ultrasound images and support the radiology staff using PACS and Meditech while ensuring accurate documentation and patient care.

This PRN role supports the hospital's diagnostic services within the HCA Healthcare network. Qualifications include BCLS within 30 days of start, a Vocational School Graduate background, and RDMS or ARRT-R certification.

Qualifications

• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Vocational School Graduate.
• (RDMS) or (ARRT-R) Radiography certification required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality ultrasound images of patients and follows scanning protocols.
• Manages all ultrasound equipment and utilizes PACS and Meditech; ensures proper charges and verifications.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• Obtains quality ultrasound images of patients. Demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability to adjust protocols as required.


• Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information. Utilize independent judgment and decision making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound.


• Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.


• Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.


• Prepares examination rooms for ultrasound procedures. Monitors inventory of supplies and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.


• Assist the radiology nurse or the radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types of care to the patient.


• Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. technical quality, anatomical positioning, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS.


• Assists Facility System Administrator and Diagnostic Supervisor with PACS clean up. ie: unarchived images, unspecifieds, etc.


• Completes and maintains educational requirements.


• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedures.

What qualifications you will need:
