Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA seeks an Ultrasound Technologist PRN to perform high-quality ultrasound imaging, manage equipment, and collaborate with radiology staff. The role requires competency with PACS and Meditech, professional patient care, and maintaining exam room readiness.

Responsibilities include image quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and adherence to protocols, with opportunities to support diagnostics and patient care across shifts.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date.
• Vocational School Graduate required.
• RDMS or ARRTR radiography credential required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality ultrasound images following scanning protocols and adjusts protocols as needed.
• Manage ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information; use independent judgment.
• Perform computer operations (Meditech, PACS) and verify orders.
• Render professional and courteous patient care.
• Prepare exam rooms, monitor supplies, and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist radiology staff with medications, biopsies, and patient care as required.
• Review exams for technical accuracy and complete verification in PACS.
• Assist with PACS cleanup and unarchived images.
• Complete and maintain required educational requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of employees and patient information.

Job Summary And Qualifications

• Obtains quality ultrasound images of patients. Demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability to adjust protocols as required.
• Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information. Utilize independent judgment and decision making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.
• Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
• Prepares examination rooms for ultrasound procedures. Monitors inventory of supplies and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.
• Assist the radiology nurse or the radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types of care to the patient.
• Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. technical quality, anatomical positioning, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS.
• Assists Facility System Administrator and Diagnostic Supervisor with PACS clean up. ie: unarchived images, unspecifieds, etc.
• Completes and maintains educational requirements.
• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedures.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Vocational School Graduate
• (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or (ARRT-R) Radiography
