Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, NC is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, prepare patients, and coordinate with the supervising radiologist to ensure accurate exams.

The ideal candidate will have AMA‑approved Sonography training, ARDMS/ARRT registry eligibility or certification, CPR certification, and the ability to document clinical history and consent appropriately.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of AMA approved Sonography program required.
• ARDMS or ARRT registration preferred; registry must be completed within 12 months of hire.
• Current AHA CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and vascular ultrasound examinations.
• Assess patients, review orders and confirm exam reason.
• Document symptoms and clinical history with signed consent when needed.
• Prepare patients and communicate with supervising radiologist for protocol details.
• Record exam times in RIS and ensure timely radiology access.
• Maintain infection control, universal precautions, and patient safety standards.
• Monitor exam timeliness and contribute to quality improvement projects.
• Perform exam QA (annotation, laterality) prior to radiologist interpretation.
• Participate in clinical education of student sonographers.
• Support department Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
