Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, NC seeks an Ultrasound Technologist fully competent to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and support radiologists with protocol specifics. The role covers equipment operation, patient assessment, accurate timing in RIS, infection control, and participation in education and quality improvement projects within the Ultrasound department.

AR DMS/ARRT registry preferred; CPR certification required; 1 year experience encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of AMA approved Sonography program required.
• ARDMS RDMS or ARRT Sonography registration preferred.
• Registry eligible must be registered within 12 months of hire date.
• Current AHA CPR certification required.
• 1 year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Competent in the technical operations of ultrasound equipment.
• Assess patients, review orders/chart for exam justification.
• Document symptoms and history; obtain signed consent when needed.
• Prepare patients and communicate with supervising radiologist regarding exam protocol.
• Record exam begin/end times in RIS to ensure timely access for radiologist.
• Maintain infection control and patient safety.
• Monitor exam timeliness and quality of care; participate in QA.
• Perform QA of exams prior to radiologist interpretation.
• Participate in clinical education of student sonographers.
• Participate in department Performance Improvement Projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
