Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System seeks an Ultrasound Technologist capable of performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures with accuracy and strong patient communication. The role requires compliance with infection control standards and active collaboration with radiologists to ensure high-quality exams.

The technologist will document, QA, and participate in student education while maintaining timely exam completion and safety protocols across department guidelines.

Qualifications

• Completion of an AMA approved Sonography program.
• ARDMS/ARRT registration preferred; registry eligible must register within 12 months of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Competent in the technical operations of all equipment in this section.
• Assess patients and review orders/chart to confirm exam reason.
• Document pertinent symptoms and history; obtain signed consent when needed.
• Prepare patients for procedures and communicate with supervising radiologist.
• Record exam start/end times in RIS to ensure timely access for radiologist.
• Provide a safe environment with infection control and universal precautions.
• Monitor exam timeliness and quality of care per department goals.
• Perform QA of exams and ensure correct image annotation and laterality.
• Participate in clinical education of student sonographers and in Performance Improvement Projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
