Job summary

DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced UI/UX Product Designer to evaluate frontier AI models on realistic visual design tasks. This contract role is based in Cambridge, MA (onsite), and you will develop design briefs, run them through AI design tools, and critique results against professional standards.

You will create briefs, run them through tools, compare model versions, and identify concrete failures with evidence across typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English at native or bilingual level.
• Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• Ability to explain why a design fails, not only that it does.
• Comfort with AI design tools or ability to learn them quickly.
• Bachelor’s degree in progress, completed, or current (preferred; not required).

Responsibilities

• Create challenging, realistic design briefs using your own professional expertise.
• Run briefs through frontier AI design tools and evaluate the output to the level you would expect from a colleague.
• Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, then determine which performed better and document where each fell short.
• Critique model-generated materials including interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Identify concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Support work across software and interactive design, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

Contract Details

• Location: Cambridge, MA (onsite)
• Job type: Contract
• Pay: USD 75 to 125 per hour

Compensation and Payment

Projects are paid hourly up to $75-$125 USD per hour, with bonus rates available on some projects. Payment is made via PayPal. PayPal will handle any currency conversions from USD.

Scheduling and Work Setup

• Choose which projects to work on and when.
• Work on your own schedule, on your own computer.
• Perform work from home.

• You will not be asked for any money.

• This is an independent contractor position.
