Job summary

Zurich E&S is hiring an experienced UA Manager to join our Casualty Wholesale team with office options in Atlanta, Scottsdale, Rocky Hill or NYC. The role supports a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and some travel to UA Associate offices.

You will lead a team of 7-10 direct reports, develop UA Associates, and drive superior broker/customer experiences. The role requires leadership, staffing decisions, and strong underwriting knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years' experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of operational budgets
• Advanced knowledge of Casualty lines of business
• Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines
• People management or supervisory experience
• Ability to manage and build rapport with team
• Advanced skills in problem solving, relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiation
• Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals.
• Assess and evaluate underwriting processes to implement technical standards, controls, practices and procedures.
• Follow up regularly with producers to discuss status of new business, renewals, and renewals in process.
• Perform customer service and account management tasks, including billing changes and policy questions.
• Participate in key account business relationships in person or via teleconference with Underwriters.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and staff development conversations.
• Make staffing decisions concerning hiring and guide staff development.
• Build underwriting operations knowledge by cross-training across workflows.
• Lead underwriting team huddles and meetings; build strong relationships across the business.
• Onboard and train new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters.
• Act as subject matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and performance.
