Job summary

Brigham & Women’s Physicians Organization, Weymouth, MA, is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Manager to lead two ambulatory laboratory sites. This leadership role oversees ~11 staff across full-time, part-time, and per-diem roles and partners with system-level lab leadership to standardize processes and improve service delivery.

You will drive staffing, scheduling, and operational continuity while ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to CLIA/CAP standards in a fast-paced outpatient

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field is required.
• ASCP MLS/MT certification is required.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory generalist experience.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a CLIA-regulated laboratory.
• Strong background in clinical chemistry and hematology.
• Demonstrated success leading teams in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment.
• Working knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS); Beaker experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support two ambulatory laboratory sites, ensuring smooth, efficient daily operations and strong team performance.
• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing laboratory team through clear expectations, accountability, and supportive leadership.
• Serve as the primary operational leader and escalation point for staffing, workflow, and service delivery needs.
• Partner with system laboratory leadership and clinical teams to align priorities, standardize processes, and improve service access and turnaround times.
• Oversee quality and compliance activities, including review of QC, maintenance, temperature logs, and other required laboratory documentation.
• Ensure readiness and performance in CLIA/CAP-regulated environments while maintaining a strong culture of quality and safety.
• Support implementation, validation, and onboarding of new tests, instruments, and workflows.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, staff experience, and patient service.
• Provide thoughtful oversight of staffing and scheduling across both sites, ensuring appropriate coverage and operational continuity.
