Ivy Tech Community College Evansville Campus is seeking part-time, in-person tutors for the Evansville campus. The role offers a flexible afternoon/early-evening schedule, up to 15 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, with pay based on education and experience.

Applicants must be able to tutor 100- and 200-level courses in technology, humanities, or sciences, and have prior tutoring or student status at Ivy Tech. Training is provided and benefits are available for part-time staff.

Qualifications

• Be a current Ivy Tech student or have at least one semester experience as a tutor or faculty member.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work well with diverse student populations.
• Comfort tutoring 100 and 200 level college courses in technology, humanities, or sciences.

Responsibilities

• Tutor in-person at Evansville, IN campus during Monday–Thursday, up to 15 hours per week in afternoons or early evenings.
• Demonstrate learning methods, encourage practice, and track hours spent tutoring.
• Promote tutoring program to students and faculty and work as part of a team.
• Support the LRC and assist with academic testing and library services as assigned.

Job description

The tutoring center at Ivy Tech Community College – Evansville Campus is in need of part-time, in-person tutors. Flexible schedule Monday - Thursday up to 15 hours per week afternoons, and/or early evenings. We can work around your schedule. We are in need of tutors comfortable with 100 and 200 level college courses in technology, humanities, and/or the sciences. Pay is based on education and experience. This is an in person role based on the Evansville, IN campus.Duties/Responsibilities:Demonstrate the learning process, show alternative methods of completing work, and encourage practice opportunities.Take active role in promoting the tutoring program on campus to students and faculty.Exhibit a positive welcoming attitude.Accurately track students' hours spent in tutoring.Work effectively as part of a team.Demonstrate a commitment to student success in coursework.Communicate effectively and respectfully by listening carefully to understand and paraphrase student questions.Work productively with students and staff from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.Provide support for the LRC as assigned, including academic testing and library services.Other duties as assigned.The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties associated with the position may be assigned.Hiring Range:This role pays $14.50-$15.50 per hour based on experience.Work Hours:The hours for this role are during normal business hours Monday-Thursday.Minimum Qualifications:Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.Be a current student who has completed at least one semester at Ivy Tech OR have at least one semester experience as a tutor or faculty member or other participation within a learning community (examples: retired high-school teacher or recent college graduate)If an Ivy Tech student: have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a “B” or better in the course they will tutor, and have no campus disciplinary recordBe able to communicate well orally and work well with diverse student populationsMaintain the confidentiality of tutoring sessionsBe willing to work under supervisionMust complete eight hours of basic training and participate in subsequent regular training sessionsIvy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
