Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking a math tutor to bridge the gap between instructors and students, helping to improve understanding and academic performance. The tutor will provide small group and one-on-one sessions and set objectives with each student.

A math tutor at Ivy Tech Community College serves as a bridge between the instructor and the student, helping to close the gap in understanding and improve academic performance.
Their role is both academic and supportive, and the justification for having one can be built on several key points. Maintain consistency in availability to provide small group and one-on-one tutoring services to meet the demands and needs of students. Define and follow through with each student on stated objectives and tutoring goals. Provides tutoring in college algebra, finite, and quantitative reasoning. Someone who can also tutor calculus is preferred. Teaches and assists students in the use of computer software as needed. Maintains, guides, and instructs students in the use of software programs, Microsoft Excel, and supplemental materials directly related to courses. Teaches and encourages all students to utilize study skills and other college success techniques. Operates computers, printers, and other hardware and business machines. Ability to work independently or in a team with other tutors.
Pay Rate $15.00/hour 12-15 hours per week Knowledge of content area being taught through prior course work or work experience. Possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse student body. Preferred qualifications include a degree in a related area with previous tutoring or teaching experience.
