Job summary

Granite Construction invites interns to join our team and gain hands-on exposure to civil construction projects. This position supports engineering operations, interprets drawings for bidding and building, and helps prepare key documentation for supervisors.

You will develop quantity take-offs, assist with estimates, track material pricing, and maintain records for cost control. A strong MS Office proficiency, math skills, and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED and be working towards a bachelor’s degree.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to perform trigonometric calculations either manually or with a calculator.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design/drawings for takeoff and workforce for bidding and building construction projects.
• Prepare and distribute documentation such as status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material requirement calculations to supervisor.
• Provide technical support regarding project materials meeting specifications, delivery dates and construction schedules.
• Assist with change orders and estimates by preparing drawings/sketches to support estimating and construction work.
• Develop job data including quantity take-offs and material pricing for accurate estimates and bids.
• Maintain accurate records of quantities and materials installed for cost controls on construction projects.
