Job summary

The University of La Verne is seeking a Student Accounts Specialist to manage the past-due tuition balance portfolio and coordinate with third-party agencies. You will handle communications, track outcomes, and ensure compliance with billing policies.

The role requires strong customer service, data analysis, and the ability to work independently in a busy higher-education environment. Onsite in La Verne, occasional evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience working in a Student Accounts or Financial Aid Office
• 2 years of experience working in higher education
• Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Experience with managing projects, tracking deliverables and following up on completion
• Ability to interact in a professional manner during stressful situations
• Ability to work effectively as a team player
• Ability to analyze, interpret data and make independent decisions

Responsibilities

• Responsible for collection of past due tuition accounts and responding to inquiries from students, external collection agencies and other areas within the institution pertaining to past due balance and retention efforts.
• Initiates all collection efforts for past due tuition accounts, including phone calls, letters, email and other communication.
• Responsible for staying abreast on institutional billing and refund policies for all programs.
• Monitors collection agency performance and follows up when performance is subpar.
• Provides coaching to other Student Accounts staff in outreach to past due accounts.
