Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Mechanical Design organization, based onsite in Tucson, AZ. You will lead the hardware development lifecycle from design through production across programs and customer communities.

You will mentor teams, collaborate with analysts, materials, quality and operations, apply GD&T and DFMA, and support suppliers domestically and internationally while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant experience (or 5+ with advanced degree).
• Leads mechanical design lifecycle including requirements, trade studies, design, integration, and test.
• Experience with CREO and GD&T; ability to interpret technical documentation for production.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document mechanical components and major end items per requirements.
• Lead and mentor mechanical engineering teams to meet schedules and technical goals.
• Collaborate with analysts, materials, quality, safety, supply chain, and program leadership to refine designs.
• Support factories and suppliers with product development, integration, and obsolescence management.
• Conduct design reviews, apply DFMA, and maintain the technical data package.
