Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Mechanical Design organization in Tucson, AZ. The role covers the full hardware lifecycle from initial design through production and fielding across multiple product lines and customer communities.

This onsite position may require domestic and international travel to suppliers and customer sites. You will lead mechanical engineering teams, apply GD&T and DFMA principles, and collaborate with

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM and 8+ years of experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience leading mechanical product development lifecycle.
• Experience resolving cross-functional technical challenges.
• Experience releasing mechanical data packages and interpreting production docs.
• Experience with GD&T and ANSI Y14.5.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and drawing (CREO or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document mechanical components and assemblies.
• Lead mechanical engineering teams and meet schedule and cost goals.
• Collaborate with analysts, materials, safety, and program leadership.
• Support factories and suppliers with development and obsolescence management.
• Conduct trade studies and participate in design reviews.
• Apply thermal, structural, dynamic, and reliability analyses to improve designs.
• Develop and maintain the technical data package (TDP).
