Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design for lifecycle development across multiple product lines and customer communities. This onsite role requires technical leadership across the mechanical lifecycle, collaboration with structural/thermal teams, and travel to suppliers and sites as needed.

The position supports DoD programs, with active clearance requirements and CREO/GD&T expertise.

Qualifications

• Typically requires STEM degree and 8+ years of experience.
• Experience leading mechanical development and cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in GD&T and interpreting drawings in production.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and major end items.
• Lead and mentor mechanical engineering teams to meet schedule and technical goals.
• Collaborate with analysts, materials, quality, safety, and program leadership on design solutions.
• Support factories and suppliers in product development, troubleshooting, and obsolescence.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analyses, and DFMA to improve designs.
