Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to drive end-to-end mechanical design for defense and aerospace products. You will lead teams, coordinate with analysts and suppliers, and ensure design solutions meet requirements across lifecycle.

The role requires CREO, GD&T proficiency, and experience with producibility and DFMA, with travel to suppliers and sites as needed. Onsite work at campus in Tucson.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree reduces experience need.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerancing in production environments.
• Experience leading mechanical design across lifecycle, from requirements to testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub‑assemblies, and major end items according to requirements.
• Lead and mentor mechanical engineering teams while meeting schedule, budget, and technical goals.
• Collaborate with analysts, materials, quality, safety, supply chain, and leadership to refine designs.
