Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer to support a long-term program in Bethesda, MD. The role focuses on Python-based microservices, Kafka messaging, and backend systems, collaborating with Systems Engineers, Architects, and Ops teams on a broad technical scope.

The position emphasizes delivering scalable services, CI/CD pipelines, and robust observability in a production environment. Occasional remote tasks are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree with multiple years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks (FastAPI/Flask).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Experience with ETL and Linux scripting.
• Strong RESTful API and microservice understanding.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows (PRs, reviews).
• Experience with CI/CD (Gitlab/Jenkins) and DevOps practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; AGILE experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices.
• Implement message consumers and producers with Apache Kafka.
• Integrate with Elasticsearch for real-time and batch data indexing.
• Write unit and integration tests with high coverage.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and deploy in Kubernetes clusters.
• Participate in design reviews and architecture planning.
• Monitor production issues with observability tools.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver quality services.
