Job summary

Base-2 Solutions seeks a Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain Python microservices interfacing with Apache Kafka and Elasticsearch. The role involves deploying and monitoring services in Kubernetes and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver observable, secure systems for DIA-NDOC DOMEX Platform.

The position is primarily on-site in Bethesda, MD, with occasional remote work based on client requirements and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Proven Python backend development experience.
• Experience with FastAPI/Flask frameworks.
• Strong Linux/bash scripting skills.
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka and Elasticsearch.
• Knowledge of RESTful microservice design.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with Agile practices and DevOps.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices.
• Build Kafka consumers/producers and integrate Elasticsearch indexing.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines; deploy in Kubernetes clusters.
• Participate in architecture planning and code reviews.
• Ensure observability, logging, security, and reliability.
• Collaborate across teams and contribute to technical docs.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to performance improvements.
• Foster a culture of high-quality software delivery.
