Job summary

Leidos seeks a TS/SCI cleared Software Engineer to support a DIA-NDOC DOMEX Technology Platform contract in Bethesda, MD. You will design, build, and maintain Python microservices interfacing with Kafka and Elasticsearch, deployed in Kubernetes, with strong DevOps and security practices.

You will collaborate with Systems Engineers and cross-functional teams in a mission-focused environment, with on-site work predominating and occasional remote tasks based on client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; 8+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 6+ years
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and ability to obtain Polygraph
• Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks (FastAPI/Flask)
• Experience with Docker containerization
• Experience with ETL and Linux/bash scripting
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice architecture
• Hands-on Kubernetes deployment, monitoring, and debugging
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows (PRs/reviews)
• Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD (GitLab or Jenkins)
• Strong communication and Agile practices

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices
• Implement Kafka message consumers and producers
• Integrate with Elasticsearch for real-time and batch data indexing
• Write unit and integration tests with high code coverage
• Build CI/CD pipelines and deploy services in Kubernetes
• Participate in design reviews and architecture planning
• Monitor and troubleshoot production issues using observability tools
• Document technical designs and contribute to knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver quality software
• Apply secure coding and logging/monitoring best practices
