Job summary

Spin Master is seeking a dedicated Trust Safety Engineer to lead Hapiko's moderation pipeline for a first-of-its-kind, safety‑critical product. You will own safeguarding from what a child says to the printed image, and you will build robust evals and tooling to support safe, scalable deployment.

You’ll collaborate with ML and Backend/Platform teams to tune classifiers, balance protection with user creativity, and drive compliance and data governance across the product life cycle.

Qualifications

• Applied safety engineering experience on a product with real users.
• Built evals or classifiers for harmful content, not just vendor APIs.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python.
• Comfort with precision/recall tradeoffs and setting thresholds.
• Good judgment under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain content moderation end to end, from what a child says to the image that prints.
• Maintain and grow safety eval suites and decide when to ship model changes.
• Improve classifiers and decide where in‑house vs third‑party models fit.
• Tune moderation to reduce over-blocking while protecting users.
• Run red teaming against models and pipelines.
• Maintain review tooling for flagged content and parent reports.
• Own the incident response runbook for safety issues.
• Maintain technical compliance obligations, including data retention and deletion.
• Partner with ML and Backend/Platform engineers to bake safety into new features.
