Job summary

The Salvation Army Gulfport store is seeking a part-time Donation Receiver to assist with donation pickups, loading, and warehouse distribution. You will ride on a Salvation Army truck, inspect items, and prepare receipts while maintaining safety and donor relations. A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to lift 25–50 lbs.

No formal education is required. Work schedule is part-time, approximately 27.5 hours per week, with competitive benefits including PTO and retirement

• Maintains good donor relations to promote a positive image of The Salvation Army.
• Unloads donations at the warehouse and distributes items accordingly.

Job Details: Job Location: ALM-MS Gulf Coast Family Store - Gulfport, MS 39501, Salary Range: $10.72 Hourly, Job Category: Store, Schedule/Hours: Part-time - 27.5 hours per week

This position is responsible for:

Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions.
• Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.
• Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Manual dexterity. Ability to sit, walk, and stand on a frequent change basis in order toperform the duties of this position. Ability to lift objects weighing between 25-50 lbs. Must be self-directed with ability to tolerate frequent interruptions.
• Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
