Job summary

MTM is seeking a General Manager of Trolley to lead daily trolley operations for the Memphis area, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant service. The role oversees scheduling, dispatch, staffing, and performance analysis, with collaboration across maintenance, safety, and labor relations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in transit/rail operations with supervisory experience, plus knowledge of union environments and transit software. This in-office role is based in Memphis, TN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in transportation, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• 5+ years in transit or rail operations, with 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Heritage (light) rail or trolley operations experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of trolley/light rail systems and transit regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Trapeze or similar transit software is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work in a union environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day trolley operations, including scheduling, dispatch, and on-time performance.
• Directly supervise field supervisors, dispatchers, and trolley operators.
• Monitor ridership trends and service reliability; report findings to CEO.
• Develop and enforce operating procedures for trolley staff and monitor efficiency.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to address service disruptions and plan around preventive maintenance.
• Oversee training and recertification of operators and dispatch personnel.
• Review daily/weekly reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Participate in budget development and monitor expenditures within approved limits.
• Assist with accident investigations and labor relations matters.
