Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join our greenspace stewardship team in Cypress, TX. Office is outdoors and you’ll be part of a crew performing pruning, removal, and health-focused tree care on varied sites.

You’ll work with industry-standard climbing systems and safety protocols, with opportunities for advancement and comprehensive on-the-job training. Role is on-site, with travel as needed to locations across the region.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader as part of the team.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees and hazards.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.


• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.


• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.


• Including but not limited to:


• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy


• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems


• Removal of hazardous trees


• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
