Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join our outdoor team in Spring Valley, NY. Your office is the open air, with a view of the environment you help protect, and you’ll perform tree pruning, removal, and health-related work with safety as a priority.

This permanent, full-time role requires climbing using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems, operating safely for clients while coordinating with ground crews.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors required.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Must complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Must complete Davey first aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees when needed.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.

Compensation

$25-$30 Hourly (Based on experience and certifications)

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.

Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. Including but not limited to:

• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreman.
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire

• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
