Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join our Cypress, TX team. The office is outdoors with daily varying views, performing pruning, removal, and tree health work using advanced climbing systems.

Ideal candidates love the outdoors, have forestry/horticulture backgrounds, and are willing to complete required safety and training programs. Opportunities for advancement and industry-leading safety training are available.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping; working at heights preferred.
• Complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Pesticide licenses/certificates preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using Davey’s DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems.
• Work with crew and crew leader as an active team member.
• Perform pruning/removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood from canopies; install cables/bracing.
• Remove hazardous trees; maintain and operate chainsaws, chippers, lifts.

Position Overview

Trimand removetrees, remove unwanted,diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areasby performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
