Job summary

The growing Consulting practice at Baker Tilly is seeking a Manager to serve Tribal government clients, delivering accounting services, monthly close, grants management, and financial reporting to key decision makers.

You will develop policies, collaborate across teams, support audits, and help grow the practice. Requires a BA/BS in Accounting and at least five years' related experience with government accounting; travel about 10–15% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, not-for-profit and/or governmental experience.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting including reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with commitment to excellent client service.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments, including monthly closing, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting to key decision makers.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients; ensures timely client deliverables.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters.
• Collaborates with clients to understand practices, identifies improvements, and helps update policies and procedures.
• Supports project startup activities and attends kickoff meetings; coordinates with clients during audits.
• Assists with growing the practice and reviews team work for accuracy.
• Travels to client locations, firm trainings, or industry conferences as needed.
