Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Manager to join our Consulting practice, delivering ongoing accounting services and grant management for Tribal governments. You will provide high-value deliverables, foster strong client relationships, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.

Responsibilities include monthly close, grants reporting, policy development, and cross-functional collaboration. Travel to client sites and trainings is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in government/non-profit sectors.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with client service focus.
• Ability to understand problems, think critically, and identify creative solutions.
• Effective time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize while managing multiple projects.
• Self-directed with strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across functions.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–15%.

Responsibilities

• Performs operational accounting and consulting services for Tribal governments, including monthly close, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting to key decision makers.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients and ensures timely delivery.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting topics.
• Collaborates with clients to understand current practices, identify improvements, and help develop updated policies and procedures.
• Performs project startup activities, adheres to schedules, and attends kickoff meetings.
• Coordinates with clients during audits and helps prepare for audits.
• Supports practice growth and reviews work for accuracy.
• Acts as an integral member of the Business Consulting Services team.
• Occasionally travels to client locations, firm trainings, or industry conferences.
