Job summary

Baker Tilly is expanding its Consulting practice and seeks a Manager to deliver accounting and grants management services for Tribal government clients, building on strong client relationships and high-value deliverables.

You will lead monthly closings, prepare client-ready reports, develop policies, and collaborate across teams to improve processes, with occasional travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, not for profit and/or governmental experience.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including proven commitment to providing exceptional client service via multiple communication methods (email, phone, chat, helpdesk ticket system, etc.)
• Ability to understand problems, think critically and identify creative solutions
• Effective time management and organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize while simultaneously managing numerous projects/processes often under tight deadlines
• Works independently to prioritize work, establish goals and produce quality work
• Self-directed professional with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions/departments/teams while building trusted relationships
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and one or more government accounting/grant management software systems
• Ability to travel as needed, approximately 10-15%

Responsibilities

• Performs accounting, grant management, and monthly closing for Tribal governments.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients; ensures timely client deliverables.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters.
• Collaborates with clients to understand practices, identify improvements, and update policies.
• Performs project start-up activities and attends kickoff meetings.
• Coordinates with clients during audits and helps prepare for audits.
• Assists with growing the practice.
• Reviews work for accuracy.
• Serves as integral member of Business Consulting Services team.
• Occasionally travels to client locations, firm trainings, or conferences.
