Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a compassionate Triage - Registered Nurse (RN) in Bohemia, NY. The role focuses on telephonic symptom assessment, education, and care coordination to support patients across the practice, working within HIPAA-compliant guidelines and established protocols.

The RN will collaborate with physicians and APPs, document thoroughly, and provide patient-centered service in a high-volume call environment.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN license.
• OBGYN experience preferred.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough telephonic symptom assessment for patients practice-wide.
• Utilize evidence-based triage protocols to determine level of care and urgency.
• Deliver patient education regarding symptom management and treatment side effects.
• Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, and ancillary staff as needed.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in compliance with regulations.
• Adhere to clinical protocols, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service in a high-volume call environment.
• Support continuity of care by identifying patient needs and barriers to treatment.

Job Description:

Triage - Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Bohemia, NY

Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour days, Mon-Fri 8a-6p

In this role, you will:

• Perform thorough telephonic symptom assessment for patients practice- wide
• Utilize evidence-based triage protocols to determine appropriate level of care and urgency while
• Deliver patient education regarding symptom management, treatment side effects, medication guidance and support.
• Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, and ancillary staff as needed.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, utilizing appropriate focused assessment documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
• Maintain strict adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, HIPPA regulations, and practice policies.
• Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and efficiency in high-volume call environments.
• Support continuity of care by proactively identifying patient needs and potential barriers to treatment adherence.
• Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the management team, consistent with organizational needs and departmental objectives.

We require:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
