Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Yorkville/UES team. The role involves chemotherapy administration, patient assessment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team in a fast-paced cancer care setting.

Expect 4/10 hour shifts Tue-Fri with an 8a-6p schedule. NY State RN license and BLS are required, with EMR proficiency preferred. Join a patient-centered organization dedicated to compassionate cancer care and research.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents as prescribed.
• Monitor vital signs and document in the MAR.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to share expertise.
• Participate in cancer research trials and administer meds per protocol.
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers.
• Educate patients and families about treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
• Chart response to treatment and medications.
• Educate on follow-up care and emergency services.

Hours/Days

4/10 hour shifts, Tue-Fri 8a-6p (RDO Mon)

In This Role, You Will

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness
• Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
• Chart the patient's response to treatment and medication.
• Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

We Require

• Valid New York State RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
