Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Riverhead, NY location. The role involves administering chemotherapy and biologic agents, monitoring patients, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate cancer care close to home.

The position offers a 5/8.5 hour shift schedule, Mon-Fri 8am-6pm with an RDO on Thursday, and opportunities to support patients and caregivers through education and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician.
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol.
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
• Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids


• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.


• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
