Job summary

Urban Outfitters seeks an Associate Buyer to help develop a customer-focused, trend-relevant product assortment in line with the UO brand. The role collaborates with Buying, Planning and Allocation to assist in assortment planning, vendor communication and product development.

The role uses data and market insights to inform decisions for core business and fashion-forward initiatives, supporting planning, reorders, and profitability strategies.

Qualifications

• Education in fashion/merchandising or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in a buying or retail role.
• Understanding of target customer and trends.
• Analytical comfort with business metrics (e.g., IMU%, GM%).
• Clear, professional communication with teams and vendors.
• Strong time management to meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and ownership mindset.
• Commitment to inclusivity in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building a balanced assortment aligned with the brand.
• Support core categories while incorporating seasonal newness.
• Manage private label and branded product mix with vendors.
• Contribute to monthly shop planning and seasonal reviews.
• Communicate with vendors to support development and delivery timelines.
• Assist in negotiating pricing, delivery, and terms under guidance.
• Support Open to Buy management and inventory planning.
• Analyze sales, markdowns, returns to inform decisions.
