Job summary

Dillard’s is seeking an Assistant Buyer to collaborate with Buyers and vendors, analyzing market trends and helping with financial planning, product development, and assortment strategies. You will manage communications, orders, and analyze style performance to ensure timely delivery of orders, fit samples, and packaging needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field required.
• 1-2 years of experience as an Assistant Buyer, preferably in a major department store.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in vendor selection and nurturing vendor partnerships
• Monitor industry trends and assess competition
• Provide input for merchandise strategy and product selection
• Assist with setting up new merchandise in the item database
• Analyze style performance by season or delivery to understand best and worst sellers
• Coordinate and catalog merchandise samples
• Manage timely placement and maintenance of purchase orders
• Contribute to the Retail Operating Forecast
• Assist in establishing pricing strategy
• Execute markdown projections and provide data for vendor allowance negotiation
• Participate in planning and approving advertising and promotions
• Offer feedback for space strategies (fixture/square footage)
• Participate in training and development.
• Support a team environment and engage in team activities
