Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in North Carolina is seeking a skilled tree climber to prune, remove, and load vegetation as directed by a Foreperson. The role involves working from the ground with various hand tools and power saws, maintaining tool safety, and assisting with storm restoration when required.

Must have knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging, plus climbing with rope and safety saddle. Travel may be required for storm-related work and ongoing safety certifications are expected.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate a working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations.
• Must be able to climb/descend trees using rope and safety saddle.
• Must be able to administer emergency rescue techniques and basic first aid.
• Must be familiar with electrical hazards and aerial rescue procedures aloft.
• Must be able to travel for storm restoration work when needed.

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson’s directives.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into brush chipper.
• Work from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws.
• Inspect and ensure proper working condition of all tools and equipment.
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards by enforcing safe practices and keeping area clean and orderly.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.
