Job summary

XKIG is seeking a safety‑conscious Climber to climb, prune, and remove trees as part of our vegetation management team in the United States. The role involves loading logs, working from the ground with various hand tools, and following Foreperson directives to ensure efficient, safe operations.

Qualified candidates will have experience with knots/rigging, rope climbing, and emergency rescue techniques, plus the ability to work at heights and travel for storm restoration as needed.

Qualifications

• Must know knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in trimming/removal
• Able to climb/descend trees using rope and safety saddle
• Able to administer emergency rescue techniques including tree rescue and first aid
• Familiar with electrical hazards and procedures when near conductors and aerial rescue
• Capable of working at heights under varying weather conditions
• Must have physical strength, balance, depth perception, and hearing to follow instructions
• Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
• Must wear PPE as required
• Must travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson’s directives
• Load/unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into chipper
• Work from ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws
• Inspect and ensure proper condition of tools and equipment
• Enforce safe job practices and keep area clean; communicate with coworkers
• Perform duties for storm work as needed
