A fast growing commercial general contractor operating throughout the Southeast United States is seeking a Traveling Superintendent with 5+ years of experience overseeing commercial construction projects for a General Contractor. Ideal candidates will have experience running $500K-$5M ground up projects, including retail, quick service restaurants, office space, commercial buildings, shopping centers, and big box facilities. This role requires extensive travel throughout the Southeast.

The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for all on site construction activities, including field coordination, subcontractor management, schedule execution, safety enforcement, inspections, quality control, and daily communication with project stakeholders. This position requires a strong ability to lead crews, maintain high standards of workmanship, and represent the company with professionalism on every jobsite.

Responsibilities

• Lead all day to day field operations for assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to specification.
• Work with the executive team and project management to understand budgets, schedules, and project expectations.
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, architects, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Oversee sitework, foundations, structural framing, MEP coordination, interior build?out, and final turnover.
• Direct and coordinate all subcontractors, deliveries, manpower planning, and site logistics.
• Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite compliance at all times.
• Conduct daily jobsite meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
• Review plans, specifications, and construction documents to ensure accurate field execution.
• Manage RFIs, inspections, punch lists, and third?party testing coordination.
• Maintain detailed daily reports, photos, progress documentation, and schedule updates.
• Ensure quality control standards are met through continuous field review and trade coordination.
• Communicate consistently with project managers regarding progress, issues, delays, and needs.
• Assist with permitting coordination, municipal communication, and utility coordination as required.
• Support project closeout, including punch list completion, final inspections, and turnover documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, trades, and fast?paced schedules across multiple traveling assignments.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (not required with strong field experience).
• 5+ years of commercial superintendent experience running projects over $500K.
• Strong ability to read plans, understand construction sequencing, and manage field operations.
• Proven experience with ground?up commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of sitework, building systems, MEP coordination, and interior finishes.
• Must have experience working for a General Contractor in a superintendent or traveling superintendent capacity.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout the Southeast.
