Job summary

Matrix Service Company is seeking a General Superintendent to supervise craft employees, plan and oversee construction activities, ensure safety and schedule compliance, and coordinate with multiple departments on site.

The role requires a 6+ year track record in similar facilities, a 4-year engineering degree or equivalent, and strong leadership and communication skills. Travel to project sites is expected with per diem provided per company policy.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures; 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
• 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
• Ability to supervise large groups.
• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise work activities. Determine method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
• Oversee all precision of rotating and static equipment.
• Coordinate assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
• Maintain liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Assist in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
• Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
• Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
• Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
• Maintains liaison with other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
• Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
