Job summary

Matrix Service, Inc. in Houston, TX seeks a General Superintendent to lead craft crews within a construction discipline. You will plan and supervise work activities, determine methods, safety requirements, manpower, and schedules while coordinating with other trades on site.

Travel to project locations is required, and per diem is provided for eligible assignments. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to the company code of conduct, and effective problem solving.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience in a similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures.
• 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
• Ability to supervise large groups.
• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.

• Monitors craft compliance with safety program and implements corrective actions.
• Liaises with Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control and Engineering to ensure materials and inspections support activity and schedule.
• Performs field safety audits and adheres to Corporate Safety Manual requirements.

Job Summary

The General Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to a particular construction discipline work area.

Travel Requirements: Must be willing and able to travel to assigned project site locations as required. Per diem will be provided for eligible travel assignments in accordance with company policy.

Essential Functions

• Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
• Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
• Plans and supervises work activities. Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
• Oversee all precision of rotating and static equipment.
• Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
• Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
• Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
• Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
• Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
• Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
• Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
