Job summary

NexGen Contracting, A Gray Company, is seeking a Traveling Project Engineer to join our growing team. This entry-level role supports a fast-paced construction operation with hands-on exposure across project lifecycle, travel, and professional development.

Ideal candidates have a construction-related degree or 4+ years of experience, basic MS Office skills, and familiarity with Procore/Bluebeam. Travel and safety are core to this position.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or four years of construction experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with construction software like Procore, Bluebeam, CMIC, etc.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and analytical/problem-solving abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to a team; attention to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project safety compliance efforts.
• Support understanding and distribution of job cost information and estimates.
• Contribute to project sequencing and scheduling efforts.
• Help track project progress and analyze production.
• Assist in project cost reporting and other administrative duties.
• Support material/equipment procurement processes.
• Help manage change order requests and tracking.
• Coordinate with general contractors/owners under supervision.
• Assist with reporting requirements (field time, productivity, materials, safety).
• Learn and comply with company standards and industry regulations.
