Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to lead on-site operations for major projects in Texas. You will coordinate scheduling, procurement, and field supervision of trades, working with the Project Manager to develop look-ahead schedules and ensure safety, quality and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate has a construction/engineering background, deep knowledge of codes, and a proven ability to manage labor and materials on complex commercial or mission-critical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent and at least 5 years commercial construction experience in a Mission Critical environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
• Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly and reads blueprints accurately.
• Has good written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.
• Project experience with hospitals/medical facilities ($10 million plus).

Responsibilities

• Plans procedures for construction and staffing based on project start and finish times.
• Develops and uses look-ahead schedules to assess progress.
• Coordinates the pre-construction meeting with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Communicates progress and issues to all parties and reviews scope with subs and clients.
• Resolves concerns and improves construction methods with supervisory staff.
• Inspects work to ensure conformance to specs and schedules.
• Manages labor costs by optimizing crew mixes and assignments.
