Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an MEP Assistant Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, scheduling, production, and procurement for Mission Critical environments. You will supervise direct labor, coordinate with the Project Manager, and manage subcontractors to ensure on-time project completion.

Responsibilities include planning procedures, look-ahead schedules, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related field and at least 2 years commercial construction experience in a Mission Critical environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
  • Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
  • Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly and reads blueprints accurately.
  • Has good written and verbal communication skills: expresses ideas clearly and effectively; uses proper grammar and syntax.(Basic Spanish preferred)
  • Has good finish carpentry skills relevant to commercial interior work; install finishes to specifications as needed.
  • Has good administrative skills: monitors the progress and coordination of work activities; keeps other members of the organization informed of progress and problems.
  • Has good management skills: establishes techniques to effectively and proactively monitor and supervise the work of subordinates and to follow up on the results of delegated assignments.
  • Maintains integrity: maintains the normal standards of ethics, conduct, and organizational policies in job-related activities.
  • Has excellent problem-solving ability: finds and uses relationships between data from different sources to formulate alternative solutions.

  • Project experience with hospitals/medical facilities ($10 million plus)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.

  • Study specifications to plan procedures, staffing, and sequencing of construction activities.
  • Coordinate schedules with the Project Manager and develop look-ahead schedules.
  • Direct procurement of tools and materials to align with work schedules.
  • Inform all stakeholders of progress and issues related to construction.
  • Resolve labor and subcontractor coordination issues as they arise.
  • Inspect work to ensure conformance with specs and schedules.
  • Assist in moving personnel between projects to optimize workforce and costs.
  • Support the Project Management Plan and uphold company policies and quality standards.
