Job summary

Layton Construction seeks an MEP Assistant Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. You will supervise direct labor and manage any contracted work to ensure project completion.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Project Manager on look-ahead schedules, directing tool/material procurement, and keeping all stakeholders informed of progress and issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related field; at least 2 years commercial construction experience in a Mission Critical environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
• Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly and reads blueprints accurately.
• Has good written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.
• Has project experience with hospitals/medical facilities ($10 million plus).

Responsibilities

• Plans procedures for construction based on schedules and staffing requirements.
• Develops project schedule with the Project Manager and uses look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinates pre-construction meeting with the Project Manager.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to conform to work schedules.
• Keeps all parties informed of construction issues and progress; meets with supervisors, craft personnel, and subcontractors regularly.
• Resolves complaints and coordinates with supervisors and engineers to improve construction methods.
• Inspects work to ensure conformance with specs and schedules.
• Manages labor costs by assigning personnel and transitioning crews between projects.
