Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Junior Maintenance Mechanic at Cresap, WV. You will inspect, repair and maintain plant equipment and structures, with a travel requirement of about 60% to locations such as Rockport, Dresden and New Haven.

The role includes welding, rigging, mechanical assembly and electrical tasks. Candidates should have an engineering-related associate degree or equivalent experience, the ability to read prints, and a willingness to work at heights and in varied

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of plant maintenance, materials, tools and rigging.
• Ability to read simple prints and specifications.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% from home base to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, erect or remove scaffolding and assist in rigging.
• Use tools to drill, tap, cut, thread, mill and prep boiler tubes.
• Perform non-code welding and brazing for wear plates and fixtures.
• Perform electrical work on lighting and circuits up to 260V.
• Inspect and repair plant equipment including pumps, fans and motors.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and comply with safety rules.
