Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks an associate-level technician to assist with electrical and control systems, analyzing, detecting and repairing single-loop controls, meters, gauges and regulators. You will travel to Amos Plant and other facilities as schedule dictates.

You will support testing, data recording and report preparation, ensuring safety and adherence to standards while collaborating with engineering and maintenance teams to develop procedures and materials.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree in electronics or related field, or equivalent mil. experience.
• High school diploma with 2+ years military electronics experience.
• High school diploma with 5+ years industrial electrical/controls experience.
• Ability to read, interpret simple prints, sketches, and specs.
• Able to work with others and guide coworkers.
• Physically able to work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Assist in locating and repairing defects in control systems using diagrams.
• Support checks and repairs on breakers and plant electrical controls.
• Help maintain batteries, motors, compressors, forklifts and heaters.
• Record data, perform tests and prepare reports and curves.
• Compile data for projects and requisitions.
• Ensure work meets standards and specifications.
• Assist in engineering layouts and data for procedures.
• Use work system to request parts and create work orders.
• Obtain permits and ensure equipment is cleared.
• Travel to other facilities as schedule dictates.
