Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a technically skilled individual to assist with maintenance, inspection and repair of electrical and control systems. You will work on devices and instruments, read simple prints, and help in data collection and reporting.

The role requires a two-year electronics-related degree or equivalent experience, with the ability to collaborate with others and operate safely in a plant environment. Training and safety programs are provided.

Qualifications

• Two year Associate degree in electronics or a qualifying Engineering or Science, or high school diploma with two or more years of related military experience, or a high school diploma 5 or more years of related industrial technical electrical or controls experience.
• Must be able to read, interpret and work from simple prints, sketches and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in locating and repairing defects in control systems involving electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
• Assist in checks, repairs and adjustments of low and medium voltage circuit breakers and plant electrical control systems.
• Record data, perform tests and prepare reports, graphs, sketches and curves.
