Job summary

AEP Service Corporation is hiring for a field-apt technician to perform inspection, maintenance and construction of plant equipment and structures. The role requires extensive travel from a home base and hands-on work with scaffolding, welding and electrical systems.

You will read simple prints, perform layout, and contribute to the upkeep of pumps, conveyors, valves and instrumentation. A valid state driver license and safety training are required for this position.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering, industrial or energy technology; OR Associate degree in another discipline and two (2) years of related work experience; OR high school diploma with four (4) years of related work experience; OR high school diploma with two (2) years of related military experience.
• Must also have performed the duties of, and have maintained all the qualifications of the line-of-progression.
• Must possess the appropriate State driver license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, erect and/or remove scaffolding, rigging and blocking and assist in the erection or removal of extensive or complicated scaffolding.
• Perform non-code electric arc welding and build up wear plates where warping is not a problem.
• Perform metal cutting and simple welding on machine shop tools; use oxyacetylene torches and similar equipment.
• Install and repair valves, gauges, switches and related controls; terminate conductors and test with meters.
• Inspect and repair equipment such as pulverizers, fans, heat exchangers and motors.
