Job summary

Spartanburg County Public Library seeks a Floating Library Assistant, Grade 20, to cover multiple locations and support circulation, patron services and information access. The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with some supervisory experience and a strong service mindset.

Responsibilities include traveling to library sites, assisting patrons with account services, devices, and research, and handling opening/closing duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education plus some supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to assist patrons of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Travels to all library locations as assigned to substitute for staff absences.
• Assists with circulation duties including registration, account services and collection maintenance.
• Provides patron assistance on information, reader’s advisory questions, devices and software.
• Works with library software and automation programs.
• Participates in special department projects as assigned.
• Communicates issues and solutions to the supervisor affecting workflow and services.
• Supports opening/closing procedures and cash handling as needed.
• Maintains awareness of security and safety and takes appropriate action.
